Use these 10 beautiful phrases to express love and affection for someone

I don’t know about you, but I hate cheesy displays of affection with a passion.

With that being said, I still want to be able to tell my partner how much he means to me, without the ick factor!

So, if you feel the same, this article is for you. Use these 10 beautiful phrases to express love and affection for your partner, and see how their heart melts with each line!

1) “Your company brings me peace.”

Rather than saying you enjoy being around them, why not go one step further and let your partner know how much calmness they bring to your life?

It’s the ultimate compliment…after all, no one wants to hang around with someone who makes them feel stressed or chaotic!

I’ll let you in on a little secret…I didn’t actually come up with this phrase, it’s something my partner told me after a few months of being together.

It was probably one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received, so I’m sure your partner will enjoy hearing it too!

2) “Conversations with you are my favorite part of the day.”

Another way to express love and affection for someone is to highlight a specific thing you enjoy doing with them, in this case, conversing.

And let’s face it, love grows out of those midnight pillow talks and non-stop chatting on dates, so what better way to show your affection than by letting them know how much you love talking to them?

Not only will you make them feel warm and fuzzy inside, but you’re encouraging communication, which is key for healthy relationships.

3) “If I was writing a book, I’d call this chapter of our lives ‘happiness’.”

Now for one of my favorites…

There’s no better way to show your love and affection than by letting them know just how happy they make you.

But rather than saying outright, “You make me happy”, which sounds generic, this phrase is more creative and shows you’ve put some thought into it!

Not to mention, it’s not limited to just making *you* happy, but the fact that your SO has made your *life* happier in general.

4) “You bring fire to my heart and calmness to my soul.”

Adapted from the lovely quote by Nicholas Sparks, this phrase speaks volumes.

You’re letting your partner know that they ignite passion and love in your heart while providing a calming sense of peace to your soul.

And while you might want to send them Sparks’ quote in its entirety, for a shortened, more practical version, you can’t go wrong with this phrase.

Let’s be honest, this is a big upgrade from the four standard words of, “I love you”!

5) “I’m in total admiration of you.”

Ever feel so proud of your SO that it almost feels like your heart could burst?

It’s normal when you love someone so much and they’re a good person – you wish they could see themselves through your lens.

So, let them know how much you admire them with this phrase. It’s much deeper than complimenting their looks or happy-go-lucky personality.

It essentially tells them that they’re a source of inspiration for you…

6) “You make me a better person.”

Another beautiful way to express your love and affection is to let the other person know how much of an impact they’ve had on you.

And is there anything better than knowing you’ve helped someone change for the better

When you tell your partner this line, they’ll instantly feel appreciated for their role in your life.

It’s also a nice way to confirm that they’re a good influence to be around, which is much more flattering than just being fun to hang out with!

7) “Life is brighter with you around.”

If you want to let someone know that they bring joy and happiness to your life, forget calling them your sunshine.

Instead, let them know that they brighten your world!

This is a straightforward, cheese-free way to tell someone how much you enjoy being around them.

8) “You’re the person I didn’t know I needed in my life.”

I remember telling my partner this phrase once, roughly a year into our relationship. It was true – before we met, I wasn’t looking for love, nor did I think I “needed” anyone.

But when he came along, he made me realize everything I was missing out in life. He opened my eyes to so many new things, and it was more than I could have imagined to find.

So, if your SO makes you feel this way too, drop this line casually into the conversation and watch how their face lights up into a smile!

9) “My love for you grows every day.”

It’s always heartwarming to hear that someone loves you more and more as time goes on…we normally hear of people falling out of love once the honeymoon period is over.

If you feel like this, don’t wait to let your partner know, tell them now.

It’ll be a lovely reminder to them that your relationship is progressing, as is your love and affection.

After all, the love you experience in the first year of a relationship is vastly different from that of a couple together for 20 years…love grows and evolves, and that’s what makes it so beautiful!!

10) “I love you, just the way you are.”

And finally, let’s go back to basics but with an added twist…

You’re not just saying you love them, you’re saying you accept them wholeheartedly as the person they are – AKA unconditional love.

This is the ultimate way to show your love and affection, whilst making the other person feel truly accepted.

I hope this article has given you some inspiration and phrases to jazz up your displays of affection – without the cheesiness of course!

And remember – telling someone how you feel is important and necessary in relationships, but so is showing them.
