Well then, chances are you’re dating a romantic.
I know what you’re thinking, “A romantic, in 2023?”, but I assure you, rare as they are, they do exist!
In this article, I’m gonna share with you a list of 18 phrases only true romantics use, see if they ring a bell.
Here we go:
1) “I’m falling in love with you”
For most people, saying the “L” word is a big deal. It’s not something people just blurt out.
Sure, they may feel like they’re falling in love but they’ll usually keep it to themselves until way into the relationship when they feel like it’s the right time to say it.
Unless of course, they’re true romantics!
You see, true romantics aren’t scared of sharing their feelings, in fact, they may throw you off by telling you, “I’m falling in love with you” after just a few dates!
It may seem quick but that’s just how romantics are.
2) “You’re too good to be true”
I know it sounds cheesy, but that’s just because there are so few real romantics out there that you’re not used to someone speaking to you like that.
If someone tells you that, you should be flattered because they think you’re so special that it feels like they’re dreaming or fantasizing.
Don’t overthink things, just relax and go with the flow…
3) “You complete me”
When the person you’re in a relationship with tells you this, it’s because they believe that you’re their other half and that they’ve met their soulmate!
And who other than a true romantic believes in soulmates?
4) “You’re the best thing that happened to me”
This is one of my personal favorites because it’s so sincere and doesn’t feel cheesy or weird.
What better way to tell someone how amazing they are and how happy they make you feel than to tell them that they’re the, “Best thing that happened” to them?
5) “I need you”
Here’s the thing, when someone admits that they need you, you can be sure that things are getting real!
I mean, when you’re just casually dating someone, you’re still figuring things out and if it doesn’t work out, it’s not a big deal.
But when someone tells you that they need you, that means that you’ve become an integral part of their lives that they just can’t imagine being without you.
Pretty romantic, huh?
6) “I love you just the way you are”
Ever watch Bridget Jones’s Diary? It’s one of my favorite romcoms.
Well, anyway, Bridget (the heroine) is far from perfect, so when the guy she’s dating tells her that he loves her, “Just the way you are” and that he wouldn’t change a thing about her – it’s impossible not to get teary-eyed.
Everyone should be so lucky to find someone who loves them just the way they are.
7) “I can’t live without you”
I’ll admit that it’s a bit intense and maybe a bit over the top, but romantics are known to feel deeply and they can get a bit carried away with their emotions.
Just think of Romeo and Juliet. Yeah? Romantic right?
8) “You’re my everything”
You don’t have to take it quite so literally, but when someone tells you that it’s because they’re a true romantic and they’re trying to tell you just how much you mean to them.
9) “I get lost in your eyes”
Did you know that romantics think that the eyes are the window to the soul?
It’s true.
No wonder that they can spend ages staring into the eyes of their loved ones.
10) “I could stay like this forever”
Now, this is something your boyfriend or girlfriend would say to you when you’re enjoying a nice moment together, like when you’re cuddling in front of a fire.
The moment is so good that they don’t want it to end.
11) “I miss you already”
This is usually what romantics say when a relationship is still new and fresh.
No matter how much time you spend together, as soon as you part, they’ll call you or text you to tell you, “I miss you already” and they’ll mean it! It’s like you’ve taken a part of them with you.

12) “No, you hang up”
Ah yes, the good old, “No, you hang up”!
That’s what you get when two romantics finish talking on the phone, neither one of them wants to be the one to hang up so they spend several minutes telling each other to hang up.
Does it sound like you guys?
13) “So long as we’re together, we’ll be okay”
Wars, pandemics, job loss – no matter what happens, so long as they’re with you, your partner is positive that they’ll be alright.
If they tell you this, you can be sure that they’re in this for the long run.
14) “It was love at first sight”
Sometimes it takes a while to fall in love. You may need to go on a few dates, you may even be friends with someone for years – and then one day it clicks.
Other times it’s like magic – you’ll see someone across the room and know that they’re the one for you.
Well, that’s usually how romantics are. They throw caution to the wind, they don’t wait to get to know someone – they just fall…
15) “We’re a perfect fit”
You’ve been dating for a little while now and you know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
That’s when they’ll come out and say it, “We’re a perfect fit”.
16) “What did I do to deserve you?”
If the person you’re dating tells you this, you can be 100% sure that they’re a true romantic. This is definitely one of those classic phrases that have been around forever – as if you’re a gift from the gods or something.
17) “I’ve never loved someone the way that I love you”
Well, well, well, sounds to me like someone is really in love with you.
They may have been in love before, but there’s just something different about how they feel about you.
18) “You’re my everything”
Finally, the last phrase that a true romantic would use is, “You’re my everything.”
Yes, it’s over the top and no it doesn’t mean that they don’t have friends and family, it’s simply a romantic’s way of expressing how much you mean to them. Aww!
See, what’d I tell you? Romance is alive and well!
