For the last two years, the anonymous model and photographer known as Nude Yoga Girl has been sharing photos of herself nude on Instagram.
In most of these photos, she’s in a yoga pose and carefully positions herself to not be too revealing.
These aren’t just nude photos. They are incredibly artistic, with a lot of insight shared about having a positive image of your own body.
She’s now amassed almost 700,000 followers with thousands of comments. There’s even a hashtag #NYGyoga where her fans share their own nude images.
The artistic yogi has been encouraging her followers to share their own stories while baring all. In a recent post, she explained why posing nude can be so empowering.
“It’s much more than just the actual photo. I think about it as an experience to really connect with your body, be there with it in a natural way. It’s the positive experience, photo and caption together.”
Check out the photos, and also the captions, and let us know what you think in the comments.
Tell me something about yourself!?😊 I have green eyes. I walk very fast. My horoscope is pisces and my dream job as a child was to be teacher. I do my best to avoid driving. I grew up with cats and dogs. I actually had two homes because my parents divorced when I was young. Making a book has been my dream for as long as I can remember. Space fascinates me. I love jewelry, beautiful dishes and notebooks. At home I always have to have fresh flowers! Will I always be nude on here? I really don’t know! I admire people who do stand up comic – I would be so bad at it. But I would like to try acting one day. Until high school I did it a lot. I live in a different country than where I’m from. I like to browse magazines and watch editorial photos. I did mostly sport and commercial photoshoots as a model. However being behind the camera is the “thing” for me. If I should choose one dessert for the rest of my life, it would be Italian gelato. And last random fact: First photo I’ve taken myself without my boyfriend on here.❤
One thing makes me very sad… Always when I see negative comments on the internet (in general) but especially when I see negative comments about how someone looks. In the social media era this body shaming is quite common but it’s sometimes more than enough to get one negative comment at a sensitive time. ❤ Most people and especially girls and women have a distorted body image. If our self-image is negative, we might be so ashamed off our own body that we isolate ourselves. We give up on things we would like to do. That really is a serious problem… On social media people don’t always see the person behind the pictures and it’s easier to leave somekind of offensive comment. I just wish that we would have more empathy to think how that makes someone feel. ❤ There is always going to be someone bullying others so we need a community who supports and encourages each other. Giving compliments when thinking about something nice, sending hugs and love. I’m so happy that I feel I’ve found that kind of worldwide community, an increasing group of lovely people who inspire and support each other. ❤ We need at least 10 positive comments to eliminate one negative. So let’s make a strong positive impact to be the ones who eliminate all the surrounding negativity. ❤ #NYGyoga
In this photo I feel more naked than in many others before. That’s because I wanted to keep this photo as raw as possible. After my last color photo and your comments, I wanted to try to do photos in which you can see a more raw version of myself… even if it makes me feel vulnerable here. Before I thought I just created art. #NYGyoga
I like to think that I’m quite a strong woman nowadays. Maybe because I don’t want that life is always easy, stable and nice. That kind of life doesn’t teach. I have always wanted to experience many different kind of moments. Through them I can get to know myself better and become stronger. ❤ Today I’ve talked a lot with my friend about how difficulties make us stronger, how we can turn our negative experiencess to positive. Many times it seems that everything is easier for the strongest ones. That they are lucky, life has given them a lot… ❤ In my experience when I’ve got to know those kind of people better, I’ve seen how many or how big difficulties they’ve had to overcome. How much they have done, how much they’ve had to put up with, endure, suffer and experience. Because of those difficult experiences, they have become stronger. ❤ “A strong woman stands up for herself. A stronger woman stands up for everybody else.”
This photo is the very first one taken when we were trying to figure out what kind of color photos we would shoot after the B&W… I’m still very happy that we took one month at the beginnig of year and went to shoot color photos as well. I miss Bali so much! It was absolutely one of the best trips I have had. Amazing trip to shoot photos, beautiful colors and nature but also to spend time together as a couple. I had the best time there with him! ❤ Now we are thinking about our next destination…!?! ❤ Ps. Check “My Story” for the photo location.😊
These showers in the middle of nature in Bali were places where it was so easy for me to relax. Light and water on the skin, nature around. I’ve usually cold so all warm elements make me feel good. A hot shower is a few minutes of luxury everyday. A place where I can breathe deep and just be. The feeling after a shower is the best. Like after physically purifying, it would do the same also to your mind and you feel completely refreshed. You could restart a bad day with your thoughts clarified.❤ Ps. Behind the scenes photo on my IG stories.😊
