Much of life is outside of our control.
But having a positive attitude and seeing possibilities more than problems can influence prosperity and wonderful people to come into our lives.
Here are the top empowering beliefs of positive people that make their lives better.
1) Life is worth it
This belief may seem overly obvious, but it’s actually crucial.
You might think that surely everyone believes life is worth it but that’s certainly not the case.
Although I believe we all have a survival instinct and want to survive, I have met many people with the belief that life, fundamentally, is a mistake.
They tend to be people without spiritual or religious beliefs who see no purpose to life.
By contrast, one of the key beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is to start with the core conviction that life is worth it.
Is it sometimes horribly disappointing? Yes.
Is it sometimes completely unpredictable? Yes.
Is it really hard to figure out what it’s for and how to use it? Yes.
But, it’s still worth it.
And it’s also the only deal we get.
2) I am captain of my soul
In his 1888 poem “Invictus,” William Ernest Henley wrote these immortal words in his fourth and concluding stanza:
“It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”
This is one of the crucial beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives:
They believe they have the ability to steer their own ship and captain their own soul.
They make their choices and find their source of hope that doesn’t depend on the external.
No matter how dire the circumstances or how much curses seem to follow them, they write their own destiny through their choices and actions.
And they never give up.
3) My healthy habits lead to my healthy future
The power of healthy habits can’t be overstated.
This is one of the definite crucial beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives.
They take it step by step and they focus on small daily habits that empower and strengthen them.
This may be daily meditation, exercise, money-saving or eating healthily.
It may be practicing a new skill five days a week or working on learning a new language at least three days a week.
Whatever healthy and beneficial habit it is, the successful person has a firm belief that their healthy habits will create a positive future.
And more often than not that’s exactly what happens.
4) I have enough enormous strength inside me
Another of the key beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is believing in their own strength.
If you don’t believe in yourself truly and at a deep level, it’s very hard for somebody else to believe in you.
The key is that believing in yourself and your power isn’t an abstract exercise: it’s a process and a reality.
To truly believe in yourself you need to see your belief manifest into action.
This creates a cycle of self-belief. You believe in your power and skill, you use it to accomplish something, you see it “proven” and the cycle continues.
5) My value is defined by me, not by anyone else
With our jealous, social-media driven times, it’s extremely easy to start letting someone else define our value.
As a society, many of us have become way too influenced by what other people think.
If I don’t like your shirt are you going to go home and throw it away just because of my opinion?
One of the key beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is that they don’t base their value on other people’s opinions or anything external.
They may be liked by many or disliked by many, but this doesn’t fundamentally impact their sense of self-worth.
And in the long-run that drives trust and affinity, since people are drawn to individuals who don’t need external validation to be secure in themselves.
6) I do things the right way, not the easy way
Another of the empowering beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is that they focus on doing things right even if it’s difficult.
They don’t believe in taking the easy way out.
This is a powerful conviction to have, because we live in a modern age where the fast shortcut is often encouraged.
Whether it’s work, relationships or personal development, this belief encourages hard work and dedication.
It’s powerful because it’s true: a lot of our most important work takes place in our discomfort zone, not our comfort zone.
7) I’m willing to adapt and change
The only constant is change, and having a willingness and desire to adapt and change is profoundly empowering.
This is one of the top beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives.
They accept that change and disruption will always happen and they embrace that and come at it proactively.
In their personal and professional lives they are always anticipating change and rolling with the punches.
There are still surprises, of course, but even surprises and sudden emergencies are accounted for and tend to be taken in stride.
8) I speak truthfully and boldly
How do you use your words and communicate?
One of the important beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is that they believe in the value and power of their own voice.
They believe that their voice deserves to be heard and they make it heard.
When they have something to say, they say it, ensuring it’s delivered to the right person.
They speak the truth whenever possible, even if it’s hard.
This can be difficult or controversial in the short term, but in the long term the truth has a funny way of winning out.
9) Every downside has an upside
Next up in the beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is seeing the upside of every downside.
This does not mean that they are sitting around smiling like a Cheshire cat when disaster strikes.
Positive people have bad days and setbacks just like anyone.
The difference is that they look for the opportunity and growth in disappointment.
They take a setback or downside and try to see what could possibly come out of it that would be beneficial, strengthening or enriching in some way.
10) I will treat failure as fuel
Lastly and very crucially in terms of the beliefs of positive people that attract abundance and joy into their lives is treating failure as fuel.
When you fail by your own mistakes, bad luck or the actions of others, you have a choice:
You can take it to heart and give up, or you can learn any lessons in the failure and use it as fuel.
This is often misunderstood to say that “lessons” means what you did wrong or got wrong.
This isn’t necessarily the case at all.
You may have started a business and done everything right, even going above and beyond in 100 ways. You may have still failed when the market took a dive a year in.
The “lesson” isn’t about what you did, the lesson may be to diversify your ventures, or to pick a sector not as reliant on market fluctuation, or to choose partners with a wider skillset who would have been better at seeing any red flags.
Learning isn’t about saying you did something wrong.
It’s about saying what you can do even better and the steps you can take to cover even more bases next time and reach an even higher level as an individual.
Furthermore, using the failure as fuel means taking that frustration, sadness and anger when you fail and channeling it into getting back up.
One given in life is we’re all going to get kicked around a few times very unfairly. Given that we already have it coming, why not dedicate yourself to using this to psyche yourself up instead of allowing it to break you down?
The Serenity Prayer is true
In Alcoholics Anonymous they have a prayer and motto that participants say called the Serenity Prayer.
It goes as follows:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.”
This is a short but very true verse.
Whether or not you believe in a higher power, the fact that life has some things in our control and some things out of our control is very true.
We need courage to change what’s in our control or our approach to it.
We need serenity and acceptance to acknowledge what’s out of our control.
And sometimes, we need wisdom, as the prayer says, to distinguish between the two.
Having empowering and positive beliefs is about focusing on what you can control and doubling down for success in that area.
